This is currently the first day of school. The first day of school will include a picnic and field day, many opportunities will arise for the students to meet new friends. During the picnic, nice manners is appreciated, but not required. During the field day, there will be a series of activities, including water. Please be prepared.

Oistin, one of the new kindergarteners, stood at the entrance, a frown on his face, and holding his mother's hand. She let go and softly nudged him through the doors, following after him and guiding the child to his new classroom. Within the classroom, there was a nice, older woman. She would be the kindergartner's new teacher, Mrs. Snow. He waved to her shyly and picked the desk he would sit in. It wasn't in the front nor was it in the back, just in the middle and sort of off to the side, near the window. He gave his mother once last hug before she walked away, and left alone in a classroom with the teacher.

  • "Have fun!" Their mother called as both her children got out of the car. Cole looked up at his sister and held on to her hand. "Is kindergarten fun?" He asked, his voice quiet and low. Ashley looked down at her brother and nodded. "It's a lot of fun. Mrs. Snow is the nicest person ever!" She began leading him to the classroom, still holding on to his hand. Cole brought his other hand to his mouth and glanced around nervously. Once they made it to the classroom Ashley brought Cole up to Mrs. Snow. "Good morning Mrs. Snow!" She said, smiling brightly. "This is my little brother, Cole." Cole let go of his sister's hand for a second to wave shyly and then held on to it again.

  • Mrs. Snow looked down at the two children, smiling sweetly. She waved her hand around the classroom and suggested that the two of them pick out a desk for Cole.

Oistin, cheek in his palm, looked up at the new students. The boy noticed how shy the younger of the two looked and waved cheerfully. "Hello!" He laughed.

  • Ashley looked over at Oistin and walked up to him with her brother. "Hi! You must be new here. I'm Ashley and this is my brother Cole. He is really shy so he don't talk much." Cole was hiding behind his sister but he peeked out a bit to look at Oistin. Ashley placed her brother's book bag on a desk next to Oistin's. "I will see you later at the picnic." Ashley said, hugging her brother before walking to get to her class. Cole still had one of his hands in his mouth but he removed and waved at Oistin. "Hello..." He said quietly.

  • "Hello!" Oistin replied happily. "I'm in kindergarten, too!" He held up his hand and waved. He was happy to have another boy in the classroom, so he wouldn't be flooded with friends who were girls. "How are you?"

Mrs. Snow looked down at the little girl before her. "I'm Mrs. Snow," She said, "What is your name?"

  • Cole began to smile and giggled. "I'm good!" He walked over to the desk that had his book bag and took out a little toy car that he usually carries with him. "Do you like cars?" He asked as he handed him his toy car.

  • Kathy walked into the classroom, putting her hair behind her ears and smiling. She looked up at the teacher, "I'm KATHY and I love giraffes, there so cute and I really like Language Arts so teach alot of that!" She blabbered.

  • Mrs. Snow smiled at Kathy's enthusiasm for language arts and happily welcomed into the Kindergarten class. She waved her hand around the room and told the little girl, "Pick a seat where you would like to seat. This will be your permanent seat unless someone needs to moved."

Oistin laughed, "Cars! I love cars!" He played with the toy in his hands for couple seconds, turning it over and over, admiring the color. He truly did love cars, but he also loved surfboards. Give Oistin a toy surfboard and he is in heaven. "Do you like turtles?" Oistin asked.

  • Cole nodded. "I love turtles. I have one at home. His name is Kevin." Cole was actually the one who was in charge of the turtle. Everyday he checked him and fed him. His mom would always help to clean the tank whenever it gets dirty. "He is this big!" Cole opened his hand and drew a circle on the palm of it.

  • Oistin smiled stupidly, "I absolutely love turtles! Turtles! Turtles! Turtles! I wishes for a turtle!"
The boy looked at Cole's hands and nodded, "Wow!"

  • "Okay!" Kathy obeyed and sat down, hearing their conversation. "A turtle bit me once, and I started bleeding!" She shared with them.

  • Cole began to notice the other students walking in and immediately sat down in his seat. He used his backpack to cover his face, occasionally peeking out. He bit his bottom lip and glanced at Oistin.

  • "Ewewewew!" Oistin shook his hands in disgust. "No blood! No blood!" Oh, how this child hated blood. How disgusting and wet and red! Gross! He paused and laughed, "I like turtles!"
