He smiled, "Im glad to hear that, I like spending time with you too,"

"I won't be able to spend much time with you though..." She said sadly. "My Dad is trying to get me married..."

"Really? To whom?" He asked suddenly curious.

"I don't know. Some hot shot rider probably. We're supposed to meet tomorrow." She looked at her hands.

"Oh its okay I bet he'll be great," Damon said a little disappointed.

"But I don't want to marry some hot shot rider though... I like another rider..." She looked at him.

"Really?" He bit into a strawberry and looked up at her with a smile. "And how many riders do you know?"

"Two. But my Dad doesn't count, so just one..." She looked at the water, a small smile on her face, "But I don't know if he likes me back..."

"Oh?" He said slightly blushing. He moved closer, "Have you tried asking?"

"No..." She blushed a little and looked at him, "Do you like me the same way I like you?"

He smiled brightly, "Of course! who wouldn't? You're beautiful," He leaned in and took her hand and kissed it, "and I must say, you are very lovely,"

She blushed brightly, "And you're a very handsome gentleman. The fact that you're a rider is a lovely perk though." She leaned forward and kissed his cheek.

He blushed just as brightly, "Why thank you," He didnt know what else to say. He had never really done anything like this before, he was used to being alone and just hanging out with his dragon all the time. Raven was literally the only family he had left.

Rose held his hand, "Have you ever courted before?" She asked shyly. Her mother had refused to let her daughter "date" or court anyone.

He shook his head a bit ashamed, "No not really. I always spent my free time with Raven,"

"Well Raven is a lucky companion to get to spend so much time with you." She said, smiling at the dragon.

Damon Smiled again, "I guess he is," He said looking over at the sleeping dragon. "ever since the day I found him. I was much younger when I did. I had always wanted to be best friends with a dragon and never really knew how to accomplish that. One day I found him just out in the woods alone and hungry. I brought him back and saved his life, he was too young to get food. Then the only way to keep him was to become a dragon rider and put him in the program," He explained.

Rose smiled, "Wow... I've always wanted a dragon, but Daddy won't let me have one. You know how most little girls ask for a pony for their 8th birthday? I asked for a dragon. Obviously I didn't get one. But sitting her thinking about it, I'm glad I didn't get one. If I had, I might not have met you."

"Oh im sure you would have anyway....maybe. There is no real way of telling," He said.
