    Shadebird acknowledged her apprentice with a small flick of the tail before she curled up, nice and cozy in her nest. It took her only moments to fall into a dreamless sleep.

    Ebonypaw crept back into the den, trying not to be loud since her mentor was asleep now. She finished the Small Vole she had taken in a couple of mouthfuls, licking her jaws in satisfaction. She settled down in some moss bedding in the corner and closed her eyes, only resting and not sleeping. she kept her ears pricked, listening for any cat that might need help.
