  • Shadebird watched the young warrior go. At times, she yearned to be beside her clanmates, fighting beside them, hunting beside them. But she didn't favor bloodshed, and that was the reason she became a medicine cat. She didn't want to meddle with the fares of war.

  • Lightheart padded off quickly out the entrance. As she left she passed by her brother. "oh, Thundereye! Shadebird want to see you about you eye." she said to him quickly, glancing off as her patrol left. "You should go talk to her when you're done looking for snakes on this side of the wall." Dashing off, she mewed goodbye to the dark grey tom and caught up to her hunting patrol.

Thundereye nodded, muffling a 'ok' though the branch in his mouth. he turned around and poked the stick in a crack near the entrance. He could smell Snake in there, but it was stale; maybe a few days old.

  • After she finished grooming herself, Shadebird walked back inside the den, and once again checked the amount of herbs she had. It was the not thing to do really.

  • After Thundereye had finished checking for snakes, he dropped the branch and walked back into camp. He watched carefully as the Dawn Patrol returned and went to report something to Froststar. he turned his gaze away from them and padded to the freshkill pile, picking around for a plump thrush; once he had found it he padded over to the Medicine cat den and poked his head in. "Shadebird?" his voice was muffled by the thrush as he checked for the Medicine cat.

  • "Huh?" Shadebird turned her head to see Thundereye. She had blended into the storage's shadow, and only her green eyes revealed her presence. "Oh, hello, Thundereye," She meowed softly. "Just give me a moment." She looked back at her herbs to once again check how much she had.

  • "alright." Thundereye huffed, padding into the den and placing the Thrush ont he ground. "LIghtheart told me to come. she said you wanted to check my eye?" he confirmed, twitching his tail. "oh, i brought you some freshkill." he added on quickly.

  • "Thank you," She said, then nodded,"And yes, she said you were having some pain with your eye." Shadebird stood up and turned around. She padded over to him and sat down. She then asked,"Does it hurt from time to time or is the pain constant?"

  • Thundereye sat down, shifting uneasily and wrapping his tail around his paws. "Well, it's constant. it just doesn't seem to go away." he said, watching her with his one eye. "it's not that bad though." he mentioned.

  • "Hmm..." With a flick of her ear, she got up once again and headed back to the storage den. "I'll start giving you some celandine every night before you go to sleep," she told him while she grabbed a celandine leaf with her teeth delicately. She carried it back and set it down by the thrush. "We'll try it for three days and see how it works."

  • "ok, Thanks Shadebird." Thunderye said, glancing down at the Celandine Leaf. "should i chew this into a poultice?" he asked her, gently placing a paw beside it to scoop it up.

  • Shadebird nodded in acknowledgement. "If you want to, you can eat half of the poultice and place the rest on your eye. Use a leaf if you wish to do so."

  • "alright. Thank you Shadebird!" Thundereye said, brightening as he picked up the herb and got up to leave. "Enjoy the Thrush!" he said with a nod of thanks and padded out of the den.

As Thundereye left the den, Ebonypaw returned with ruffled fur. She almost looked like she'd been in a fight, but without any wounds. "Was that Thundereye just now?" she asked her mentor, glancing over her shoulder and the dark grey tom.

  • Shadebird murmured her welcome as she settled down to eat her meal. She swallowed down a big mouthful to answer her apprentice,"Yes. I gave him some herbs for his eye."

  • "oh. Was his eye hurting again? I hope he feels better soon." Ebonypaw Asked padding over to her mentor and sitting down. "What did you give him?" she was curious to see what her mentor might have given Tundereye, so she'd no what might help; She would be better prepared I Shadebird wasn't there and Thundereye came back in.

  • "I gave him a leaf celandine." She said. After finishing up, she stood up and gave her fur a quick grooming. She then asked,"How are the elders?"

  • Ebonypaw gave her chest fur a couple of licks before answering her mentor. "They're doing fine. They're quite active actually." she added, looking up at Shadebird. "I checked them for ticks, but they didn't have any."

  • Shadebird stood up and padded over to her nest. She got herself comfortable as she curled up. "I'm going to rest," she meowed,"You should too after a little while."

  • Ebonypaw flicked her tail and nodded in agreement. "Alright, Shadebird. I'll just grab something to eat first." She mewed and padded out of the den, going over to the Freshkill Pile.
