  • "Ace? Who's...Oh" Luna said, relaxing from her battle stance. True, it had been 2 years since the games and nowadays she usually had no weapons with her but a they say, old habits die hard. She studied the slender freckled boy who had seemingly appeared out of the underbrush. He had tanned, slightly pale skin and wild curly hair that along with his mischef-filled green eyes, gave him a look that definitely screamed "Trouble Maker". His bright red hair was askew and messy and he looked a few years older then Wyatt, but obviously knew him. "Are you Ace?" she asked hesitantly, raising an eyebrow at the boy.

  • The boy looked at her. "Are you Luna?" He didn't wait around for an answer, but started singing his tune again. He then sprinted forward and tackled the disbelieving Wyatt. Wyatt tumbled off of the stump backwards, Ace going down with him. A burst of laughter erupted from both of them, as they pulled themselves up from the dirt. Wyatt stared at ace. "I just can't believe it! I thought you had died in the twister!" They laughed, and the red head gave Wyatt a good playful punch the chest. Wyatt grabbed his wrist and walked to Luna. "This is Ace Sanders! He is..... Annette's brother....." Ace shook his head to confirm Wyatt's sentence. "Yeah, and also an aviator and fighter pilot for the capitol. I was the one who sent wyatt his sickle via parachute at the beginning of the games!" He laughed. "I finally earned enough money to fly to the victors village over here in four, but when you weren't there I just decided to take a walk." Wyatt looked at Luna again. "This man is the closest thing I have to a brother! I thought he died in the tornado!" He was about 21, and he was tall and skinny. He may have been a young man in age, but he was really still a child in heart.

  • "Nice to meet you Ace. And yeah, I'm Luna" she said warmly, sticking out a hand. "So do you live in 9 or the Capitol? We have to head up there to mentor the new batch of tributes soon and it'd be great if we could see you while we're down there" Luna added. She pushed a lock of long dark hair behind her ear and smiled at him. Ace and Wyatt's joy was contagious and she couldn't help feeling happy for the two of them.

  • "Well, I really don't live anywhere. My plane is my home." He said, laughing. "But I generally stay in the capitol during the games." The games! Wyatt just remembered! "Hey Ace, Luna, lets go inside and watch the district nine reapings." He murmured. And then, Ace noticed the ring. He looked wearily at Wyatt. "Honestly? Already? Aren't you a little young for this, Wyatt?" He said in reference to the engagement at only 17 years old.

  • "I don't know if you've ever been through the Games, but when you do and are lucky enough to have someone else with you, you hang on" Luna called over her shoulder. She would have said it more harshly if it had been anyone but Ace but seeing as how she'd just met him and he was practically Wyatt's brother, she decided to go easy on him. "Besides" Luna said, walking faster along the trail "I'm 16. I've seen just barely 12 year olds die at the hands of someone twice their size. I'm lucky to be out and alive and frankly, I wouldn't care if I was 14 or 15. I would have stayed with Wyatt"

  • Ace still nodded with disapproval, but discontinued staying anything further about it. It wasn't long before they made I back to the house. "Lets go see which district is on." Wyatt muttered, racing up the stairs toward the bedroom. Ace followed, scanning the beautiful setting of the house. "How much did this cost!?"

  • Luna blushe with pride as she waited for Wyatt to explain to him. Even though he'd stopped talking, she could still see the disapproving glint in Ace's eyes when he looked at her. Somehow he made her feel...Inadequite. As if she wasn't smart enough to see exactly why marrying the love of your life at 16 was a terrible idea. For a second she thought about bringing up Katniss and Peeta, before she remembered how they'd met their ends. Okay, maybe not such a great example of love winning the Games, but she was determind to convince Ace that this was the right thing to do. Was he jealous that Wyatt had married her instead of Annette, even though she'd been dead for 7 years? Luna quickly dismissed the thought. Ace just didn't seem like that kind of guy. Something seemed to be bugging him though, and she could tell that it wasn't just the age issue.

  • Ace continued eyeing the beautiful railing, the lush carpets, the beautiful windows. Wyatt spoke up. "I built this." Ace looked up at him, rather surprised. "Impressive." He said, his green eyes flickering up to Wyatt. Wyatt looked down at him, still overjoyed. "Its like your back from the dead, Ace! Im so happy to see you again!" Ace nodded. "Yeah, I'm happy to see you, too." Its like he just couldn't pull himself away from the engagement. "So are you two planning on having any kids this early, too?"

  • Luna glanced nervously at Wyatt, then regained her composure. "After the Games" she said confidently, holding her head high and looking at Ace, silently daring him to challenge her. Luna walked into the living room and sat down on the couch before turning on the TV. As always, nothing but the Reaping was shown, and they were just in time for District 9's.

  • Ace just shook his head, sighing. "Too early." He muttered, barely audible enough for even himself. The war video had just finished playing and now a male version of Effie Trinket was reaching into the glass reaping ball. "Ladies first!" Wyatt watched with anticipation. A small slip was pulled from the ball and it was now unfolded. "Jamie Sky. Jamie Sky." He repeated. "Come on up here, Jamie sky!"

  • Luna gasped, putting a hand to her mouth. For a second the words didn't make sense. Then they clicked. Sky. Jamie Sky. Wyatt's little sister. "W-Wyatt?" she asked, her words coming out in a creak. Technically, Wyatt was still young enough to volunteer and had been born in District 9. But Jamie was a girl, and Wyatt lived in 4 with her now.

  • Wyatt just stared as his 4 foot and 6 inch sister waddled in disbelief to the stage. "J-Jamie." He stammered. Ace shook his head. "Man, that's hard..." Then suddenly a voice split the air. "I volunteer!" A stiff, thin looking woman stepped up. She looked way to older than a teen ager, continued to the stage. "We have a volunteer! Okay! Tell us your name and age!" The girl looked down at her feet. "I am Lillian White. I am 17 years old, and I am Jamie's foster mother." The man looked at her sympathetically. "Oh... Sad for you!"

  • "Do...Do you know her?" Luna choked out in disbelief. Her eyes widened as she watched the women walk creakily up the old wooden stairs onto the stage in the middle of a district 9's crowded town square. She glanced at Ace, wondering if perhaps he had any connection to the voulenteer. They were from the same district after all.

  • Wyatt put his hand to his head. "Yeah. Yeah, I know her. I hunted for her for along time! I went through so many different fosters before I decided she was good enough for Jamie." He said, sighing. Ace, being completely unsympathetic said, "Hey! At least its not Jamie!"

  • Luna stood up and walked towards the stairs. "I can't watch any more of this. I'm going to my room. It was nice to meet you Ace" she said, managing to keep her voice from shaking. Once she was upstairs she passed their bedroom, walked up one more flight of stairs, and came to the little room that Wyatt had built for her. It was maybe a little less then half the size of their bedroom, with ivy green walls and dark wood floors. A white carpet was pulled across most of the floor and a big yellow love seat sat by the fireplace in front of a coffe table, flanked by another seat and a couch, all in the same shade of lemony yellow. She sat down at the dark polished desk and sighed then reached for a pen and paper. She needed to be alone with her thoughts, just her and ink, and smooth creamy emptiness.

  • Wyatt sat down on the breakfast table chairs. "So, Ace, tell me how things are going with you right now."
    Ace began with-
"Well, when the tornadoes hit, I found my mother's body and assumed that everyone was dead. I couldn't handle scene anymore. The whole town, completely destroyed and all. So I left. I took a train and moved to the capitol and started hunting for a career. I needed to find something to fill my time with and something to live on. I searched with no luck. So one day, I decided to go back to 9 to make sure that I wasn't wrong. To make sure every one was indeed dead. So I took the train to district 9 and my thoughts were confirmed. When I learned you were no dead, that's when I wrote the song you heard me singing. But I couldn't find you. Anywhere. People said you had moved, but no one knew where. So I decided to give up and go home. But I was running behind and found that when I arrived at the railway station, my train had already left. So I made a few phone calls and found out that I could just fly home. So that's what I did. And I fell in love with flying. So I decided to pursue a career in aviation. But the only way to get schooling was to enlist in the capitol's airforce , so that's what I did. Now here I am." Wyatt had been starting a spaghetti dinner, and he looked up from the pile of noodles he was boiling. "Sounds interesting, Ace. You hungry?" He nodded. "Good. Cause dinner is just gonna finish in about ten minutes. Idle chit chat continued and Wyatt told him about life after the twister. Finally when everything was finished he said. "Let me go fetch my precious Luna then we can eat," He dashed up the two flights of stairs and came to a screeching halt infront of her door. Slowly he pushed it open.

  • Luna looked up from her work, a large stack of written-on papers pulled next to her. She had ink on her finger and a small streak of it on her nose, but now she looked calmer, more relaxed. "Hey Wyatt. Dinner time?" she asked as she tucked away her pen and leftover paper and tucked away the use pages in a small cabinet across the room. Luna brushed a strand of hair out of her face and followed him out the door and down the stairs to the dinner table before sitting down across from Ace. She gave him a small smile.

  • Ace gave her an impish smile. "So...." He said, talking between mouthfuls out spaghetti. "...When are you to tying the knot?" *Swallow* "It's good, Wyatt!" It wasn't long before his plate was finished.

  • "Somewhere towards the middle-ish end of the Games" Luna answered after eating about 3/4 of her plate of spaghetti. "What about you? Do you have a family?" she asked as she finished off the last of her pasta. She winked at Wyatt, then gave him a thumbs up as if saying "Nice pasta!"
