"G'morning! Yeah, I'm down in the kitchen!" He called up, his voice ringing up the stairs. 'Just in time!' He mumbled as he finished pouring the thick gravy over the soft biscuits that sat on the beautiful red and white china. Wyatt soundlessly slipped the plates onto the hand embroidered table cloth. He took a seat on one side of the table on the cherry wood chair and waited for Luna to come down.

Luna walked into the kitchen and her eyes widened in surprise. "Oh Wyatt, you didn't have to make breakfast too, on top of everything" she murmered as she sat down next to him. She heard the faint sounds of the tv upstairs but ignored it. Today was the day of the reaping and right now most Capital citizens and victors would have been glued to their seats but for Luna it just meant that she had one last day with Wyatt before mentoring began. No one knew they were engaged and she figured that if they found out, the Capitol would have a field day. Pushing the thought aside she turned to Wyatt. "So, what do you want to do today?" she asked before taking a bite of one of the freshly baked biscuits.
-
Wyatt shook himself out of his own thoughts at the sound of her voice. "Oh! Hmm... Well, I want to at least watch the district 9 reapings..." He mumbled, taking a bite of a biscuit. "But apart from that, there isn't very much we have to do for the day..." Wyatt stuttered through a mouthful. "So I guess it's totally up to you."
-
"Do you want to go for a walk? Or we can just watch the Reapings, either is fine by me" she replied. Luna took another bite of her biscuit and stared contemplativly out the window. "Do you ever think of going back? To our arena I mean. The 500th" Luna blurted suddenly, her gaze trained on his.
-
"Well, Luna, that was three years ago. And I try my hardest to forget the games and anyone in them except you. I never want to go back. Never want to see it again. I still occasionally feel sad for Lisa, but that isn't very often. I still feel bitter about her and the scythe ordeal. And I guess we should just watch the reapings. The district nines should play about 3;00..... So I guess we could start planning the wedding until then?" Wyatt didn't want to be too sudden about planning and everything, but he knew they wouldn't get much time between now and the end of the 504th. Cameras would always be watching.
-
Luna nodded. "Okay". She stood up and walked to the couch before drumming her fingers nervously on the table. She looked over at Wyatt, then said "Where do you want to have it? If we do it in the Capitol, everyone will know about it, and if we do it here...They'll probably know about it anyway" Luna joked.
-
Wyatt picked up the plates and scraped away the left overs. He quickly gave them a wash and put them back into the cabinet and came to sit down next to her. "....Lets have it in the capitol...." He mumbled. "They have to know eventually. I took a vacation to the capitol before my family.... left me.... and we camped on this open grain field with a lake on it.." He began to describe it. It sounded beautiful. Like a perfect mix between district four and nine. "What do you think about having it there?"
-
"It sounds wondeful. I'm in" Luna agreed. She bit her lip, thinking for a moment. "I think we should have our honeymoon here though. I mean, we could spend it in the Capitol, but do we really want to do that? Besides, if we don't stay there, here is really the only place to go"
-
"Yeah, I agree. the cameras would never leave!" He grabbed her hand and smiled a shining white smile. "I love you, Luna. I don't care where we get married or anything. We could have it in an alley for all I care. I just want to be with you forever."
-
"Forever and ever" Luna murmured before leaning towards him and kissing him. Her dark wavy hair brushe his face and the ring on her finger sparkled brightly in the morning sunlight filtering in from the picture windows.
-
Wyatt leaned in and gave her a long kiss to the lips. His wispy blonde hair blew in the morning breeze and his eyes reflected the light from the chandelier over head. It was even brighter and bigger than the one in the bedroom.
-
Luna broke away and smiled playfully at him. "Save tht for the wedding we're trying to plan" she teased before grabbing his hand an leading him out the door. "C'mon. I have a surprise" were her only words before laughing and shooting off into the forest ahead of Wyatt.
-
Wyatt looked surprised at her sudden break away, but he stumbled after her. "Slow down, you!" He bolted off toward her, but she was already considerably ahead. He let out a laugh and tripped along a small deer trail as he tried to keep up with her.
-
Luna snuck up behind him and put her hands over his eyes, not unlike what she'd done in the arena 3 years ago. "Now close your eyes and sit right here" she said, carefully guiding him over to a weathered old tree stump in the middle of the small clearing.
-
Wyatt instinctively gripped his scythe, but came to his senses and never actually drew it. "You know, you shouldn't sneak up on me like that. It could be detrimental." He repeated- just like in the arena. He took a seat on the stump. He kept his eyes shut, but like a child, longed to open them.
-
"Okay...Now open them" Luna whispered. Sitting in Wyatt's hands was a big leather photo album. From the outside, it appeared to be nothing special or overly elaborate except for the large scythe embossed in gold ok the cover. On the the inside were pages and pages of picture and documents. Pictures of them together in the arena, smiling together during the victory tour, pictures of Wyatt and his family, and even pictures of Wyatt and Annette laughing together outside a stable. "I called a few friends. Asked them to send pictures. Your...Your mother's will is in the back along with...with a letter from Annette. Your sister found it in the hayloft of your family's barn" she said softly.
-
Wyatt was the very definition of speechless. He stared at his family he had tried so long ago to forget. His lovely little Annette, her red, curly hair blowing in a warm summer breeze that you could almost feel. A tear slid down his cheek and landed on the face of a small girl that resembled Wyatt strongly. "T-thank..." He couldn't even speak. His fingers dropped longingly on a tall, blonde haired woman. Her hair and eyes where the mirror of Wyatt- it was obviously his mother. "L-luna..." He turned to the letter and re-read it. "Luna, I remember hiding this. I don't remember much from that time.. But this... I remember. I hid it in the loft before the tornado. Its a wonder it survived. Thank you, so much. This is better than any house or ring. This is my life all in a book." He continued to flip the pages and it did indeed reveal his mothers will. His big blue eyes were a mess of memories. Sad days, happy days, the days that he would want to relive over and over. Then suddenly he turned to a picture that made him brake down. His whole face became wet with tears when a photo graph revealed a set of 4 sister rope tornadoes sweeping through a distressed grain field. Pieces of wood and even what looked like a book swirled around the ropes of death. Infront of the strips of whirling winds sat a dainty white farm house, a small brown stable, and a big red barn bigger than the house. All about to be devoured. He put his hand to his head and looked frightened all over again. His face reflected the fear of seven year old little Wyatt Henry Sky as he fled his beloved home with his two year old sister Jamie on his shoulders.
-
Luna kissed him and gazed down at the book. It was huge and she had to admit, assembling it had hurt. Even though she'd never known the people in the photographs, it twisted her heart to see them like this. Everyone looked so happy. Annette with her Ed hair billowing in the breeze looked so young, so vibrant that it was hard to believe she could ever die. But here they were, some 6 years later, with all of Wyatt's family along with Annette gone. He'd endured the games and then given up his little sister to be with her. It was truly the ultimate sacrifice, and saying that she'd she'd a few tears while making it would be a huge understatement. It was painful, mainly because it helped her to understand the terrible true tragedy that Wyatt's life had been during the Games. "You're welcome" she whispered. She knew that it hurt him to see this, to feel the memories slipping through his fingers like grains of soft sand, but the look in his eyes also told her that he'd needed this. Before moving on to the future he'd needed one last look at his past and his life, and that's really what the album was. Wyatt's life set to paper, finally and forever.
-
Wyatt was in something of a trance. He stared down at the picture of the tornadoes. He finally moved and flipped the page. It revealed a group picture of his whole family and friends, including Annette. All four brothers, all four sisters, Only Jamie and Wyatt remained. "T-th..." He tried to make his voice work, but it just wasn't going well. "T-t-hey... They're all gone. All g-gone... Luna, my family. My home. My town. All. Vanished. How c-could it be?" Its like after so many years of pushing it away, he had finally begun to accept that everyone had left. Then a new page revealed a new thing. A small plate style bracelet signed by everyone in his family. And because they were so close, even Annette had left her mark. He reached into the small file protector and removed it from its case, and he held it to his heart. It was the closest thing to him to reuniting with family. A presence seemed to radiate from the simple gold band, as Wyatt clutched it tighter. "Luna you could have never done anything worse to me. And you could have never done anything better." He murmured, expressing just how emotional this book was to him. Everything left of his family was in one solitary book.
Wyatt looked up at her. "L-luna.. I never said 'good bye.' They were all gone before I even had the chance. The sisters took them up like they were nothing. I... I.... I just long for them to come back." He stopped for a moment, as if doing math. He was 7 when the tornado hit, he was 14 in the arena. Now he was Seventeen.... "I guess.... I guess I just never accepted it. But, Luna ,you.... B-brought me to my senses they are gone. Its been ten years and I must finally let them leave me. For a very long time, the memory haunted me. I was always thinking about how I could have saved them. But now... I must let them go.." He said, solemnly looking up at his girl. -
"I...I just didn't want you to forget them. Because of us. I wish that you could have said good bye to your family and I wish that Annette had known how much you loved her. Your family's gone, but people still remember them. I figured that you should be able to too" Luna murmured softly. She ran a hand soothingly through Wyatt's hair and gazed into his eyes before hesitantly adding "That's what I'd want to name her y'know. If we have a child, and if we have a girl, I want to name her Annette, in memory of her. As...As a last goodbye" she finished shakily.
