  • Aiko finished adjusting the tiny blue ribbon in her persacom's long hair that she had styled into twintails.

'There. Wow, you look so cute, Akemi!' she smiled.

'Thank you, Aiko. You look very nice as well,' replied the persacom, her purple eyes bright with 'happiness'.

Aiko still had rather old verbal response software installed into her persacom. Today, she had finally decided to purchase something more up to date, along with the new drawing/painting software everyone had been talking about. With her new job, more money was coming in, meaning that she could afford the latest persacom updates from now on, which was great news.

  • 'Come on, then!' Aiko smiled, opening the door for her persocom. 'You excited?'

Akemi nodded, her face filled with as close as a robot could come to delight. She walked out the appartment, waiting for her mistress at the stair case.

'So, I was thinking that once I settle into my new job, maybe you could find some work, too?' Aiko asked as they exited the building and began the short trip to the persocom shop. 'Then you can buy things that you want. Sound good?'

'I would love to, but where shall I work?'

'Hmm... There's a little grocery store not far away from our appartment. I think you've been there once before. Anyways, they're looking for someone to carry crates of produce into the store from the vans. The pay is pretty good, and we'll have the same working hours.'

'I shall find a job there, then,' Akemi replied.

As they walked through the alleyway used as a shortcut to the persocom store, Aiko suddenly noticed the limp, beaten body. Being an expert in perscoms, she very quickly realised that it was a robot, and a fairly modern one, too! She looked at Akemi, who was staring in confusion.

'It's an abandoned persocom, Akemi. I think she's been here a long time. If nobody has picked her up yet, I doubt anyone will... We can take her home with us on the way back. Maybe she'll have an identity number, so we can call her owner,' she explained. 'But, now we need to get software. C'mon!'
