Coin was groomed down till his dappled grey coat shone like a brand new quarter right out of the mint. He was put into his pasture where he bucked a bit before cantering to his favorite spot of grass and grazing.
Dime's dapple grey coat glistened like polished silver as she cantered off.
Alice went into the barn and got a halter and lead rope out for Friday, thinking she would be happier being worked. She jumped into the mare's pasture and walked out to her, clucking reassuringly and scratching her being the ears. She put the halter over Friday's head and clipped on the lead rope. "We're not going to be jumping today," she said, leading her out of the pasture and into the round pen. Alice tied her to the fence while she entered the barn and got out Lucy's 'station' equipment - cones and poles. She set them up and untied Friday.
Friday pricked her ears as she looked over the equipment. What are we doing this time?
Dime snorted and trotted off.
Alice moved Friday into the empty part of the pen. "Hmmm... lunging may be a bit difficult for you, since I have no idea if you've learned verbal commands yet... Lets try it anyways. Away."
Friday blinked and stared at Alice. Am I supposed to do something?
Alice walked over to Friday and gave her a gentle shove. "Away."
Friday grunted ans trotted a few feet away, then stopped and looked back at Alice as if asking if that was the right thing.
Alice nodded and returned to where she was, rope now taut. "Walk."
Friday took a step forward, then another.
Alice smiled and nodded. "C'mon. Keep going. Walk."
Ana cantered Janga at the jump, he tucking his legs as close to his body as possible and leaning forward a bit. Like all the other jumps, he cleared it by at least two feet.
Friday smiled and walked normally, reassured that she was doing what Alice wanted her to do.
Lucifer pawed at the ground boredly. He ate some more, drank some of his water, and stuck his head out of his stall.
Alice turned as Friday walked, making her go in a circle around her. She considered getting Lucifer out so that he could help teach Friday.
Darla pawed at the ground, ready to jump.
Dime grazed.
