Paradisefalls sat at the entrance to his den, without Periwinkle there it felt somewhat empty. He wondered if she'd ever really loved him now that she was gone. It didn't matter, he had a duty to SnowClan and he was all they had as he was the last remaining full medicine cat. First Tigerlily, then Transillusions, and well now Peri. It seemed like the Medicine cat den saw more tragedy than a war could produce.

He'd fallen ill with greencough and had a slow and rather long recovery. He wasn't sure what had happened but after he recovered and was no longer delusional with fever, Divinitapaw was gone. No explanation or anything. He'd heard nothing on the topic. It wasn't until a few days ago he saw her again. Where had she been all this time? Was something wrong?

It was just then as he was lost in thought he saw the familiar form of the former med cat apprentice. "Divinitapaw?" he called. "Do you have a moment, I'd like to speak with you."

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px][justify][font=georgia][size=8]Tears staining her striped lilac and alabaster cheeks, the recently demoted Medicine Cat Apprentice sulked forward. Her head was hung down and shaking from side to side in disappointment and greif. Not only did her mate cheat on her and fall in love with someone else, but her latest litter of two was a premature miscarriage, and her adoptive mother was permanently missing. To top it all off, her position which she loved more than anything, but gave up for her unfaithful mate, was gone as well.

"Hey Paradisefalls." She murmured, struggling to make eye contact with the white tom. She knew that her adoptive mother had a fling of sorts with him, though it was mostly because of catnip, or so she believed. Whether or not this was true, Divinitapaw had always thought of the tom as a gentlemanly guy, but didn't quite like the thought of him being her possible step-dad. Mittened forepaws trembling against the ground, she gave a gulp in anticipation for his response.

Paradisefall's heart sank immediately seeing the state Divinitapaw was in. He wasn't sure what had happened but he would find out soon enough. He padded into the den to get away from anyone who might overhear. "Are you alright Divinitapaw? What's wrong?" he asked. He wondered if it was Peri's disappearance that had upset her, after all she was Peri's adoptive daughter. He missed Peri deeply but he couldn't abandon the clan, Peri wouldn't want him to.

He flicked his long white tail around his paws but his concerned gaze never left the distressed apprentice. while he didn't know it, he was one of few who could completely understand. He'd once neglected his duties and been demoted to warrior. That time had been miserable for him, when your one passion was to help others being a warrior didn't cut it. He had desperately missed it at the time.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px][justify][font=georgia][size=8]Sniffling back any tears that threatened to pour out, she gave a single nod to begin. "Well erm, you know how I had a litter a few moons ago? Well it was with my mate Habitmirth - the Skyclan Medicine Cat Apprentice. Well mum gave me an ultimatum to either get demoted or keep seeing him, and I didn't want the kits I already had and the ones I was pregnant with to be fatherless. So I stupidly left." Divinitapaw bit her lip, fearful of the scolding that might follow her beginning response.

"After leaving, I found out he had been unfaithful and loved someone else. So I came home, had my litter - a pr-premature mis-miscarriage, and now my mum is gone..." The multi-colored femme blurted out somberly, glad to have had a chance to vent out everything, but she wasn't hoping to dump her losses on the tom.

Paradisefalls was stunned by what Divinitapaw told him. How could Peri have treated her like that in the first place. He and Peri and done something quite similar and scolding Divinitapaw down on it was hypocritical. "I'm so sorry, Divinitapaw," he meowed, he reached out with a paw to touch the apprentice's paw in a gesture of comforting her. "I had no idea," he said. Divinitapaw had lost just about everything, her mate, her kits, her mother and her medicine apprentice position. He knew how hard the last one could be. He grieved for Peri's loss as well.

He was at a bit of a loss for words. What troubled him most was that Peri appeared to have. forced her to choose between staying or demotion and her mate. What a horrible choice?! "I wish I could do something to help. Know that I'll always be here for you and I'll help you anyway I can," he said. "I can't bring back your kits or Peri...I miss her so much...but you were an excellent apprentice before. I'd rather not see your herb studies stop short, you have a lot of potential. I already have an apprentice, but StarClan willing I would like to mentor you as well."

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px][justify][font=georgia][size=8]Divinitapaw was blind to how twisted and hypocritical the ultimatum she had been provided with had been. She sub-conciously refused to think ill of the woman who taught and raised her - rescued her from an abusive family. "Thank you." The lilac tabby murmured with a small nod, eyes blinking shut. She smiled a bit as he rambled on about his sympathy and how she had been a potential-filled medicine student. Her ears, eyes, and chin perked up though at the request of re-promoting her. It was as if a rainbow had appeared after a neverending thunderstorm, and she let a tear of joy slip from aqua blue orbs. "Thank you, thank you so much!" Divinitapaw whispered in gratitude.

Paradisefalls smiled, glad to see Divinitapaw brighten some. He didn't like seeing her so miserable. Life certainly seemed to have given her the short side of the stick. "Your welcome, if you need a few days before you start you duties as a medicine apprentice you are welcome to take them," he said. After all Divinitapaw had been through he wasn't sure if tossing her back in so soon would be good or not, on the other hand it might be the best thing for her. He'd leave it up to her to decide.

[ I've given you the badge for it and it's all official again. =) ]

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px][justify][font=georgia][size=8]"No, no! I'd like to start right away! In my training, I completed simple relics for infections, fevers, etc. I also learned poultices, sprains, broken bones, and disabilities. I need work in physical therapy and things of that nature though." she mewed gently, uplifted but still grieving over her multiple losses.

The white medicine cat smiled. "Alright then, we could use some more dock if you want to collect some. You know where it is?" he said. He assumed she knew where it was at, but his questioning tone left it open if she wasn't sure. "Relics? I haven't heard herbs referred to in those terms as for physical therapy, you'll have a chance at that already. Harpiekit is having one of her legs removed, it's a worthless leg to her now. Maybe you can help her out after the operation. Get her used to three legs," he said.
