  • "Your mom. Don't worry, nothing will happen." A rosy smile was placed on Scarlet's face. If it wasn't for her unruly position and stature, she would have made a perfect Aphrodite girl. Comforting and Sweet. "We all have communicators, right?"

  • Jay arched an eyebrow at Scarlet. Communicators? Did she mean cell phones? No, surely not. She wasn't stupid, she would know cell phones sent up monster flares.

Nick turned to look at Scarlet, a little confused. "Communicator? What communicator?" he asked, cocking his head slightly to one side.

  • Haven shrugged, "I don't have one. . . " She looked around at the others, "Does anyone else have communicators? I didn't bring any, I thought they sent up monster signals."

  • Scarlet brings out a narrow, silver tube with ancient Greek writing. Passing them out to the questers she states, "Communicators. You set them off once, like a flare. Monsters can't since them. Use them wisely, since well, these are the only ones from here to Camp Half-Blood."

  • Holly took it, holding it in her hand stiffly. "Did you get this from one of the sons of Hermes, Scarlet?" she asked, smiling slightly. She had seen one son of Hermes playing with it.

Mark rolled his eyes, but took one anyway. "Cool. Can we start now? Please?"

  • Jay took the communicator, nodding slightly. Interesting. "Seconded," he grumbled, wanting to get on with it as much as Marko did. Probably the only thing they agreed on.

Nick's eyes lit up as he took the communicator, and he immediately began to turn it over in his hands. "I wonder how..." he murmured, examining it from every angle. The temptation to take it apart and see what made it tick was quite strong, but he would have to exercise self-control. There was no guarantee he could put it back together again.

  • Holly grinned at Scarlet, she could tell her friend liked the little guy. "Yeah... let's go... is it underground?" Holly felt nervous suddenly. She hadn't thought of that. She couldn't stand being underneath the ground. It made her nervous.

  • Jay gave Holly a side-long glance, raising one brown eyebrow. "Subways tend to be underground, yes," he replied sarcastically, eyeing his friend. Something seemed off, something that hadn't been there a second ago.

Nick was oblivious, his attention still focused on the communicator. The Hermes kids had thought it up, he was fairly certain, but he was also certain that Hephaestus kids had actually made it. Come to think of it, a few of his half brothers and sisters had been working pretty hard lately on something they hadn't wanted to show any of the others. These were probably what they had been building.

  • Beads of sweat trickled down the back of Holly's neck. "Let's be going then." she said stiffly, turning, following the sign that said Subway->. Her throat went dry, and she seemed to be walking slower. Mark narrowed his eyes at her. "Something's wrong." he said.

  • Scarlet ignores Mark, fishing out the human's subway tickets. "Don't ask me how I got these tickets. There not real by the way, so if you see a cop run like your life is at stake, cause.. well.. we won't have time to bail you out." A glint of mischief passed in Scarlet's darkened green eyes as she whistles for a taxi. "Who's going with me?"

  • "Either go with subway, or taxi." Carter said, his eyes gazing back to the entrance of the subway. He saw the expressions of Holly and Mark, and quirked up a smile. "I'll say the subway," He offered an idea to the others, as he sweep his gaze to all of them. "What do you think," Carter asked.

  • Haven shrugged again, "I haven't been in either too many times, but subways tend to be a bit more disgusting than taxis. . . So I call going with Scarlet!" She grinned, watching the taxi begin to pull up.

  • "Maybe it is better if we separate..." Mark said, pushing Holly gently towards the taxi. "Come on guys, follow me." Mark headed for the subway.

  • Nick still disliked the idea of being trapped in a subway tunnel by monsters, and besides, he preferred remaining above ground, so he followed after Scarlet and Holly silently.

Jay rolled his eyes and, trusting, at least for the moment, that Nick could take care of himself for a few minutes, trailed after Marko.

  • Ooc~ Sorry, I keep forgetting! My muse just loaded upon a starship and is launched into the sky!

Mark trotted down the steps, calm and easy. Under the Earth was his territory. After all, where did dead people go when they were buried? Underground. He had never really been in a subway, he always used shadow travel. But he doubted he could move a stone right then. Besides, he needed to save up on power in case of emergency.

Holly felt like a failure. They had split after all, which wasn't good. Not for demigods. She knew Marko and Jay would be fine, but, she knew if they got in a fight, they would probably explode. "Am I doing this okay?" she asked as she slid into the taxi, paying the driver a gold drachma. "I mean... this whole 'quest leader' thing?"

Carter followed them to the subway, putting away his Nyx's charm to his navy jacket. He was used to the darkness, seeing clearly without adjusting his vision.

And others must not be discovered.

  • The taxi drove up. It's driver was black with dreadlocks and crazy-looking brown eyes, that would scare any clown away. Scarlet snaps her fingers once before entering the car and tosses him a roll of mortal money. The man's eyes bulge and nods eagerly, "Fast is my name, sisteh. Whateve' place you heading?"
"Come on in, guys, its safe." Scarlet says with a wink.

  • Nick smiled slightly at the man's reaction to the large amount of cash, getting into the taxi after nodding at Scarlet. The Son of Hephaestus scanned the car's interior, noting the taxi's meter. It took all of five seconds of just looking at the exterior of the thing to figure out a way to improve on it, but Nick restrained himself from saying anything out loud. Instead he just kept fiddling with the communicator, eyes following every line and contour on its surface.

Jay snorted lightly and turned toward the subway tunnel, running a hand through his light brown hair. "We can't all fit in one taxi. Where do you want to meet? You remember where the Bank of America building in the downtown area is, Scarlet? There's a park in front of it, it'd make a good meeting place," Jay suggested, turning to raise an eyebrow at the Daughter of Ares.

OOC: I'd rather not let this die! :<

  • Ooc~ Me too!

Holly climbed in. "We meet there. All though, if you see anything odd, check it out. Stay armed. Iris message if anything goes wrong." she said.

Marko turned. "Can we get going, please? We are burning time."
