"Oh please," Scarlet scoffs, not accepting Jay's friendly tone. If he was going to be a pain, she could be a bigger one. "Don't act like you know the place, I've been where Hades himself hasn't been." She silently winks at Holly, sharing a private joke.

"Not familiar with Chicago." Carter replied, half smiling. "But that will do," He said with an easy going voice.
-
Holly winked at her friend. So true. Mark sighed. "Now then," he took a step, stumbling a little. "Sorry, tired." he blinked wearily. Shadow traveling taxed him insanely.
-
Ooc: gtg, don't flood meh!
-
"Here," Carter handed Mark his eye shape charm. "It recovers you faster," He offered it, which is dangling from his hands.
we won't :P )
-
She was going to have to try harder than that if she wanted him irritated. "I've crawled over practically every inch of this city, and most under it too. And, surprisingly, I had a lot of time to explore, despite the monsters hounding me every step of the way," Jay replied non-chalantly, eyes flicking around at the sky-line. "And you may know the upper city more than I do, but I guarantee that I know the catacombs even better than you, princess," Jay added, and he was about to continue, but he was nudged by Nick. "What?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at his little brother.
"You're being a pain in *ss again," Nick stated pleasantly, which, miraculously, caused Jay to shut up. "Do we know what we have to do here?" he asked Holly, turning to the leader of the group.
-
Scarlet muttered something about testosterone, while her fists did a quite intimidating dance over the side-railing. Nick could curse? Interesting. She would help him work on a better choice of more "foul" words later.
-
ooc:Wow, okay, sorry I couldn't post yesterday, had to finish up some projects, but I read it through so I'm all good. ;)
Haven looked around at the huge city around them, "Never been to Chicago. . . seems like an interesting place. So. . .what now?" She glanced at Holly, "Is there some monsters we have to kill or. . ." The Nyx-kid blinked around again.
-
Ooc~ Bahahaha... 'foul' words... teehee. Sorry that got me good.
:PHolly stood up straighter, she shoulder her backpack. She kept herself steady. "We go through the busiest parts of the city, look for clues. The clues are supposed to lead us to the object of power." the Daughter of Nike's blue eyes shined.
-
Jay winced slightly, his good mood dampening a bit. "If we have to, then that's what we'll do. But let me tell you from experience, our monster friends love to attack when we're in the middle of crowds. We need to be on the look-out for anyone suspicious. Any monsters in this city will catch our scent quickly," he advised, glancing around again, but this time cautiously.
Nick nodded, sighing slightly. If only he'd had more time to prepare for this. He could have made a gadget to hide their scents... Maybe something to help Marko with his powers... Ah, but no point moaning about it now. "Clues. Okay. I guess," Nick mumbled, a little confused. Would they know these illusive 'clues' when the saw them, or was Holly going to release a detail or two?
-
Holly could feel her friend's frustrations. But it was nothing compared to her own. The oracle had barely given her any advice or instruction. Just to follow the clues to the object of power. She looked down. "We shouldn't split up." she said. "That's for certain. Everyone keep an eye out. We have two major demigods in our group and the monsters will be hungry." Mark said, offering his advice.
-
Jay snorted rudely at that. Marko had basically repeated what Jay had said just a moment ago. And Holly's comment about not splitting up was crap. Jay had survived for four years on his own, fighting monsters practically every other day. He could handle himself. Although... A sideways glance at Nick was all it took to convince Jay to stay with the group at all times, no matter the cost. He was not going to lose the only family member he had left.
"Well? Standing around her bleating about it isn't making this go any faster. We should get moving, and hope Snow White there can shadow-skip, or whatever he does, us out of here if we really get in trouble," Jay suggested, shooting a contemptuous look at Marko. Nobody liked a corpse-lover. Well, maybe the others did, but Jay didn't, and he would make no excuses for that fact.
-
Holly gazed down at the ground, hiding the hurt in her eyes from what Jay had said. She knew he was like that, but he should understand she was under pressure. She turned away from the others for a moment to catch her breath. How could she lead this quest if she didn't know what to do?
Mark stepped in for her. "We can do without your crap-comments for now Fly-Boy." Mark said. "I don't give a care for what you think of me, or of anyone else, but the least you can do is cooperate. This is Holly's first quest, cut her some slack. And yes, I can get us out of here easily." the charm Carter had given him had worked it's magic. "I suggest we allow Scarlet to lead us through the top of Chicago. Jay can lead us underneath in the catacombs. Agreed?"
Holly turned back to face them, giving Mark a grateful smile. Watching out for her again, just like the old days. He nodded back to her and stood beside Haven. "Scar, lead the way." she spoke to the daughter of Ares.
Ooc~ Sorry for the long post! Internet turned off, but the page still allowed me to type... so I took control of it.
-
Scarlet narrows her eyes at the cursed nickname, "Please do not call me Scar, it makes me sound evil or something. Shocker, the thought of that." With a turn of heel, Scarlet bends to the ground, setting out a compass near a pack of pigeons. The compass was an unusual red glowing color, sending out rays in different directions. "The nearest source of power is North, and thankfully, more tourist. That should help cover our smell from monsters, for a while, at least."
-
"It's a start. No one use your powers unless you have so." Holly commanded. "Let's get moving. We've been here to long already." Holly started walking North, her stride quick and long.
-
"Holly," Scarlet calls out, quickly grabbing her commander's arm. "It might be quicker to take the subway, we have enough mortal money to spare."

Fly-boy? Did the corpse-lover consider that an insult? Heh. "She's right," Jay put in, nodding slightly at Scarlet, "It'll be faster, and safer. Being underground helps block our scent, and it means less mortals caught in the cross-fire if we do end up fighting." Whatever else he thought of her, he knew her judgement was sound.
"But doesn't that mean we could get trapped more easily?" Nick asked, a little hesitantly, looking up at Jay curiously.
"Sure, but it's ultimately worth the risk. Our best chance to avoid monsters is to go as quickly as possible, and the subway is the fastest way North there is," Jay explained, at which Nick nodded in understanding.
-
Scarlet scoffed at the idea of her and Jay actually agreeing on something without blood spilling everywhere, but maybe it could work. "And," Scarlet adds, a spark of amusement, "There is a perfect place for a midnight snack." Something about the way Scarlet said the last words were unsettling, but nothing unusual.
-
Holly felt slightly uneasy. "All right then, you two lead the way." she shifted to her other hip. Mark crossed his arms over his chest. "And if we get separated? Where should we meet?"
